What is Tapas

Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks,  practically anything from a chunk of tuna, cocktail onion and an olive skewered on a long toothpick, to piping hot meat with sauce served in a miniature clay dish. It may be cold or hot. In Spain, patrons of tapas can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. The serving of tapas is designed in such a way to encourage more conversation between people as people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal that is set before them.

In English, ‘tapas’ is used like ‘a la carte’.
